
Cathy Carroll is founder and President of Legacy Onward, Inc., a leadership coaching firm supporting family business leaders. She is also the author of “Hug of War: Uniting Love and Power in Family Business,” publishing July 2024.
Although she grew up around her grandfather’s business, Cathy pursued a 20-year corporate career as an actuary at Hewitt Associates and corporate executive at Sabre Inc. and United Airlines before joining her father’s business as President and COO. There, she led the turn-around five companies that manufacture and distribute sporting goods that serve the team roping rodeo market.
In 2013, Cathy formed Legacy Onward, Inc., to bring leadership coaching services to family businesses. She also offers training for advisors who specialize in family business service, as well as coaching training for coaches who maintain their credential with the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Cathy earned certificates in both Leadership Coaching and Executive Facilitation at Georgetown University, an MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a BA at Boston College. She is also a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in the ICF and is certified in The Leadership Circle, Hogan, TetraMap and Enneagram assessments.
Cathy has served on the board of several family businesses and non-profit organizations. An active member of the community, Cathy currently serves as Vice-Chair the Board of the Purposeful Planning Institute and co-founder and Treasurer of A Leg To Stand On which provides prosthetic limbs to children in developing countries. Cathy lives with her family in San Antonio, TX.
